What is AVERAGEIF?

Calculates the average of cells that meet a single criterion. The conditional counterpart to AVERAGE for filtered calculations.

Syntax

=AVERAGEIF(range, criteria, [average_range])

Example

Formula: =AVERAGEIF(A2:A10, \

Result: 78.5

How It Works

Averages values in B2:B10 where corresponding A cells equal 'East'. If average_range is omitted, averages the criteria range itself.
